Dr Asad Khan is a design researcher, computational architect, and existential riskologist, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He holds a Ph.D in Architecture (2021) from The University of Edinburgh, where he is a Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Design Informatics and a Studio Instructor at the Edinburgh School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture.
He is a research affiliate and grant awardee with the Edinburgh Centre for Data, Culture & Society, Creative Informatics, the Data-Driven Innovation Programme, and the Edinburgh Future Institute.
His work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as La Biennale di Venezia, Ars Electronica Vienna, Futures Lab Shanghai, Talbot Rice Gallery Edinburgh, Arebyte London, the Paul Mellon Centre London, Liste Fair Art Basel, Seker Factory DAO California, ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, the Future of Humanity Institute Oxford, and the National Library of Scotland Edinburgh.
He is a peer reviewer for SIGCHI, DIS, ACM, and EAR. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and conferences including Vesper Journal, Transdisciplinary Imaging, the Cosmopolitics Conference at the Biennale Architettura, the Existential Risk Conference at CSER Cambridge, the Arts in the Anthropocene Conference, the Code Control Construct Conference, and the Designing Temporal Ecologies Conference.
He has delivered guest lectures and organised workshops at institutions such as the Bartlett UCL, Architectural Association, SCI-Arc, Pratt Institute, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Goldsmiths University of London, Parsons School of Design, Glasgow School of Art, and Städelschule Architecture Class.
